TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Friday, Florida State University and the City of Tallahassee are partnering to hold The Big Event.
Organizers say it is one of the largest one day student run service projects in the nation with more than 1,600 volunteers.
This year the event is expanding it's outreach to more than 70 service sites.
"The overall mission of The Big Event is to say thanks to the community because as college students we come here for 4 years and then most of us leave so we have a unique position to give back while were here," said Alex Rose, Executive Director of The Big Event. "Our hope is that after volunteering for four hours, that they will gain an interest in community service."
The kick off will feature FSU President John Thrasher and will be held this Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
