TALLAHASSEE, FL. (WTXL) - The Frenchtown Neighborhood in Tallahassee will soon have the first financial institution in it's communities' history.
The Frenchtown Financial Opportunity Center will provide financial literacy and economic education and outreach for local residents. The institution, spear-headed by Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, has been in the works for years after Bethel saw a need for a viable financial institution for low income families and individuals.
Organizers say the center will design programs and services to help reisdents, "We hope to use this as a model and it can be replecated in other areas that have been historically underserved. Becuase we really think that giving folks access to financial resources as well as access to education to make sure that they understand how to utilize those finanical resources could mean a diffrerence for generations to come."
Doors will open to the general public after a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceromony on July 11th.
