TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Free tax preparation services for low-income, working families in Tallahassee are now available.
The tax preparation service is aimed at assisting families eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). That is the federal government's largest and most successful anti-poverty program for low-income, working families.
Each year Tallahassee families lose millions of dollars to commercial tax preparers simply to access this benefit, according to a news release from the sponsors of the free tax preparation services.
The sponsors of the tax services are Florida State University Center for Leadership and Social Change, the United Way of the Big Bend, Florida Campus Compact and Impact America.
Services are provided to working families and individuals making up to $54,000. Interested individuals should call 1-844-4-TAX-FLA to schedule a free appointment.
