Free storm debris collection extended for Leon County

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - If you've still got left over debris from Irma don't worry: Leon County officials have extended free-of-charge collection.

The free-of-charge period has been extended at the Solid Waste Management Facility on 7550 Apalachee Parkway and select Rural Waste Service Centers.

County officials say the facilities will be open their normal hours and remain free of charge through Sunday, September 24.

The Solid Waste Management Facility will be open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. while the Rural Waste Service Centers will be open Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Woodville, 549 Henry Jones Road
  • Fort Braden, 2485 East Joe Thomas Road
  • Miccosukee, 13051 Miccosukee Road

County officials say curbside storm-related debris collection will begin this week and will continue until all debris is picked up.
