THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - Two free workshops are being offered for high school students who want to know what to expect when taking college entrance exams or how to improve their scores.

Thomas University will hold the workshops on the SAT and ACT on Tuesday, Feb. 6. "Increasing your ACT/SAT scores" will be held at 6 p.m. followed by "First-time test takers" at 7 p.m.

Both workshops will be in the Flowers Foods Executive Classroom inside Smith-Bonvillian Hall on TU’s Forbes Campus.

Randall S. Vickers, owner and founder of Solution Skills, will present both workshops. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Florida State University in the 1970s.

He was the director of guidance at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee and later became the assistant director of the Honors and Scholars program at FSU in the 1980s.

In the "Increasing your ACT/SAT scores" workshop, participants will learn how to perform better and improve their scores on these tests. They will do so through strategic and tactical approaches, pacing and time management, focusing, minimizing careless errors, cognitive habits to maintain and retrieve information and critical thinking skills.

The “First-time test-takers” workshop will provide an overview of the ACT and SAT, including discussion of test content, similarities and differences between the two tests, effective strategies, tactics and shortcuts.

Registration is required:
