WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL)--While our area is miles from the major impacts of Hurricane Nate. Franklin and Wakulla counties still felt some effects.

WTXL was there during high tide Sunday morning at Alligator Point.

The tide and storm surge was a concern in Franklin County and in Wakulla County Bottoms Road flooded.

The Wakulla River rose about one to two feet.

"As you can see it's all underneath the house," said Jacki Youngstrand, the owner of TNT Hide-A-Way.  "Earlier it was all the way up to the shed. You can see the water line on the shed there."

TNT rents out kayaks and canoes.

She says the only time they worry about storms is when they are category 3 hurricanes or more.

"Sometimes we have 6-9 feet surge like in 2005 with Hurricane Dennis, said Youngstrand. "The water was all the way up the bottom floor."

Water surrounded her business Sunday morning but quickly receded.  Next to TNT, water covered the boat ramp and parking lot.

Over at the Riverside Cafe along the St. Marks River, a foot of water poured in.

Now both of these long time businesses are up and running as usual and are always prepared for whatever mother nature brings their way.
