FRANKLIN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Franklin County sheriff says the St. George Island fire from over the weekend is now controlled.

The fire started after Rick Crossen set yard debris on fire. Flames spread to several blocks of East Pine Avenue, burning for hours.

Crossen was charged with a misdemeanor for letting the fire get out of hand.

The Sheriff says the road closure on East Pine has been lifted.

The Florida Forest Service has spent the week cooling down hotspots.
