Four star Florida High defensive back chooses FSU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A lot of eyes were on Florida State rolling into this year's signing day. Would they get the guys they needed to turn this program around?

One of their targets? Florida High four star defensive back Raymond Woodie III, the third son of Seminole linebackers coach Raymond Woodie.

Woodie III had three shirts laid on a table, but turned to a backpack to reveal his decision.

Woodie III is going from Florida High Seminole to Florida State Seminole.

He will enroll early to get a jump start on the season and says he thinks he can make an immediate impact to Florida State's defense.

Being a part of helping turn the program around is what appealed to Woodie III and he's ready to step on campus and get to work.

"Growing up, I always watched Florida State dominate land stuff like that. This weekend on my official, I was with a lot of the other commits. That's our big thing, coming in and changing the culture and being a part of that," said Woodie III. "A lot of people may think it's because of my dad, but honestly, Florida State, I just feel like it's the best fit for me. I have a great relationship with Coach Taggart, and I feel like I could come in right away and help contribute to the team early."
