CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A group of children who got lost in the woods were found cold, wet and scared.

Thanks to a central Florida family, the children avoided spending the night in freezing cold weather.

Four kids were camping with their families at the Chassahowitzka Campgrounds in Citrus County when they disappeared.

Law enforcement were called out around three p.m. to begin searching for the kids. That's when the Olson family sprung into action.

When they saw no law enforcement boats on scene, they decided to head onto the water themselves. The family says they found the kids within 15 minutes of launching their boat into the water.

Three of the kids suffered from hypothermia. They had been missing for just over four hours.
