TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Four families are displaced after a fire at Summer Chase condominiums Thursday evening.

The Tallahassee Fire Department received a call reporting a quadplex fire at Summer Chase condominiums on 4434 Gearhart Road at about 6:21 p.m. on Thursday.

Six crews from TFD arrived on scene at about 6:29 p.m. to heavy smoke and flames coming through the roof of the building.

TFD says firefighters were able to quickly get the fire under control and stopped it from spreading to the other homes.

TFD says the families involved were all okay and no one had to be taken to the hospital.

Red Cross was called to assist the families.

Leon County EMS, the Leon County Sheriff's Office, Tallahassee Police Department, and City of Tallahassee Utilities all assisted on scene.

TFD stated at this time they don't know the exact amount of damage to the quadplex and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

This is a developing story.
