TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - This holiday season you could make a difference in child's life.

Everyday this month we here at WTXL are highlighting children in need of a forever home with the help of the Florida Department of Children of Families.

Many children in our area are looking for loving, permanent homes including Shawantae.

She is 16-years-old. She is described as having a strong sense of independence. She enjoys hanging out with her friends, talking on the phone, and using social media.

She also likes to dance. Shawantae loves the color pink and and the clothing and accessories brand Lily Pulitzer. Case managers say she needs a family that can show her lots of love, attention and affection.

If you are interested in opening your home to Shawantae, please call Jamie Honerlaw at Children’s Home Society of Florida at 850-509-3369 or email her atJamie.Honerlaw@chsfl.org.

The Florida Department of Children and Families says the adoption process can be completed within nine months.
