VALDOSTA, GA (WTXL) - A former Valdosta State University student has reached a settlement in a civil rights lawsuit with the school, eight years after he was expelled.
In 2007, Hayden Barnes was expelled from VSU by former president Ronald Zaccari for a satirical environmentalist collage he posted on his personal facebook page and after Barnes says he was peacefully protesting the construction of two parking garages on campus.
Zaccari said Barnes presented a "clear and present danger" to VSU. Less than a year later, Barnes filed a lawsuit against Zaccari. Thursday, they reached a $900,000 settlement.
