MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A former University of Florida football player wanted for a home invasion robbery has been arrested in Madison County.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office says that they received information from the U.S. Marshal’s Office Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force that 22-year-old Vincent Dimenna was wanted by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said Dimenna had active arrest warrants for home invasion robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment and grand theft.
An investigation lead marshals to determine that Dimenna is formally from Madison County but left to attend UF on football scholarship. He played as an offensive lineman in 2014 and 2015, according to UF's rosters.
Since then, deputies say Dimenna is no longer a part of the program and was banned from the university.
On Tuesday, MCSO responded to Dimenna's last known address in the county and conducted surveillance. Around 5 p.m., they spotted Dimenna leaving the the home in a black 2008 Jeep Wrangler.
Deputies followed him, ultimately arresting him without incident.
Dimenna was booked into the Madison County Jail and will be transported back to Alachua County for the other charges.
