TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A former Tallahassee Community College student is accused of submitting fraudulent documents to TCC to try to obtain nearly $3,000 in financial aid.
Jennesa Mercedes Justin, 27, was arrested Monday on charges of grand theft and passing a forged/altered doctors certificate, according to a probable cause affidavit signed by a TCC Police Department officer.
A TCC official told investigators that, after Justin submitted paperwork indicating she had experienced serious illness or incapacity due to an accident, TCC contacted the physician who supposedly provided the document.
The doctor described the document as fraudulent, saying that although she had treated Justin in the past she did not treat her on the date shown on the paperwork.
If Justin's paperwork had succeeded in her getting a Pell Grant, she would have received $2,908 for the summer term 2017.
