TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A fired, former Tallahassee Police officer is giving his side of the story.
A media conference is being held Tuesday night disputing TPD's decision to terminate Damien Pearson for shooting at a car that tried to run him over.
The Big Bend Police Benevolent Association's headquarters on East Brevard Street, the association's president, Officer Damien Pearson and his lawyers will be talking about that shooting earlier this year.
According to TPD, Pearson was approaching a suspicious car when the driver hit him and sped off. Pearson tried to stop the driver by shooting at the vehicle.
State Attorney Jack Campbell says it didn't violate Florida law, but TPD fired Pearson anyway, saying he did violate the department's deadly force guidelines.
