Former Lowndes County Teacher Pleads Guilty to 2nd Degree Child Cruelty

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - In Lowndes County, a woman has plead guilty to cruelty to children in the second degree.

According to the county clerk's office, Phoebe Jo Chapman pleaded guilty yesterday and was sentenced to four years of probation.

Chapman was a Lowndes High School teacher who was arrested back in April of 2015 to having sexual relations with three male students.

The children had graduated at the time of the arrest, but deputies said they were students at the school at the time of the incidents.

Chapman is also sentenced to 80 hours of community service, and has to pay a $2,000 fine.
