JACKSONVILLE, FL -- A former Live Oak Police Sergeant is being indicted for having child pornography on his patrol car computer, according to the Department of Justice. Kyle Kirby is facing up to 20 years in prison.
Authorities say when they searched Kirby's home in October, no child porn was found. However, 87 thumbnail photos of child porn were found on the computer in his patrol car.
The DOJ says search terms that are commonly used by other people searching for child porn were found on the computer.
Kirby was fired from the Live Oak Police Department.
The trial is set to begin on January 4, 2016. The DOJ says Kirby is being detained pending the trial.
