TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A former homeless shelter is scheduled to be demolished in Tallahassee starting Monday.

The property on the 400 block of West Tennessee Street is being torn down by the Community Redevelopment Agency. They're making space for new development near North Macomb. The three-acre parcel will be stripped and prepared for re-development.

Work is scheduled to begin at night to reduce the impact on traffic in the area. Motorists can expect one lane to be closed on West Tennessee Street from 8 p.m. Monday through 6 a.m. Tuesday.
