ATLANTA (AP) — Federal prosecutors say a former elementary school principal has been convicted of attempting to entice a minor for sex.

Authorities say 57-year-old John McGill, former principal of Mt. Carmel Elementary School in Douglas County, responded to a Craigslist ad featuring a mother who was looking to introduce her 13-year-old daughter to sexual intercourse. The ad was actually placed by a federal agent.

Authorities say while McGill's wife was out of town for a conference, he traveled more than 50 miles from Douglasville to Lithonia and had a condom in his pocket when he was arrested by the FBI.

Authorities say McGill was a school principal until he was arrested March 2. His sentencing is set for Feb. 6.
