Former FHP Sgt. Appears In Court For 2nd Day for Burglary and Assault

QUINCY, Fla. (WTXL) -- A Gainesville man appears before a judge at the Gadsden County Courthouse for the second day on Friday. Nicholas Andrew Causey on trial for a 2014 incident at the Florida Public Safety Institute Dormitory.

Causey was arrested by Union County deputies after a warrant was issued by the Gadsden Sheriff's Office for unlawfully entering the dorm room of a female staying at the Public Safety Dormitory.

According to the warrant, Causey entered the room with the intent to commit an offense and that the dorm room was not open to the public.

A judge issued a $25,000 bond for Causey and he was ordered to stay away from the female victim.

Nicholas Causey was a seargeant with Florida Highway Patrol. He was dismissed in June 2014 after the criminal investigation by the Department of the Inspector General.
