TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)--Former FAMU presidents are now banning together to fight a proposal that would break up the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering.
They claim the move to split the college was sudden, unplanned and void of discussion.
They say it sends the wrong message about how legislature and academic institutions should interact.
Now FAMU is requesting the legislature provide additional support to their existing program.
Right now the two universities share faculty and a building for the college of engineering.
FSU Interim President Dr. Garnett Stokes says they need a stand alone college of engineering to achieve the goal of becoming a top 25 public research university.
