TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) – Former workers protested outside a Tallahassee cafe on Thursday, just days after starting a boycott.

They said they were let go without a warning and most of them are people of color and some are part of the LGBTQ-plus community.

The group also alleges that one of the current employees has sexually harassed co-workers.

"Its important for people especially the marginalized community people of color trans people the queer community  that were out here standing for if a small locally owned cafe can get away with doing things like this what does it say for the rest of our communities," said former employee.

The owners have sense disconnected the phone line due to so many calls coming in.

They did post an apology on Facebook, saying the employees were friends that they had to lay off due to costs and not for any other reason.

They said they hired people they wanted to help, not positions they had to fill.
