TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - No charges are being filed against former Chiles High School coach Scott Gowan, the State Attorney's office said Monday.
State Attorney Willie Meggs said he reviewed the evidence and decided not to press charges.
Gowan was put on paid administrative leave on February 2, after officials said students reported that Gowan hit a student.
Gowan, who was the cross country and track & field coach at Chiles High School, was relieved of his coaching duties on Thursday, school officials said.
Although the state will not press charges, school officials are still performing an internal investigation.
In August of 2015, Gowan was also put on leave after reports that a student complained that he was bullying and stalking her.
Tallahassee Democrat later reported that Gowan was cleared by the district after an investigation into that complaint.
