TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)--In this installment of "For Your Protection," we discuss what to do if your identity is stolen.
Officer David Northway with the Tallahassee Police Department says you should first report it immediately to law enforcement.
He says then contact one of the three major credit bureaus, Experian, TransUnion, or Equifax.
He also says you need to keep a record of all your documents, and transactions to make sure you keep a file of what's going on.
Tallahassee Police say you can pick up a booklet, put out by the Federal Trade Commission, at their headquarters on Seventh Avenue.
