TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Despite high gas prices and impending rain, travelers are still hitting the road this Memorial Day weekend.
According to Triple A, more than 2.2 million Floridians are expected to travel for the long weekend, with increases in the number of people driving, flying and cruising to their destinations.
While fuel prices are approaching the $3 per gallon, many drivers are still paying the price at the pump.
Many travelers say this cost of fuel is relatively low compared to previous years.
"Gas prices seem to be not to be to bad for me. I just consider the $4 and $5 a gallon prices compared to that. We're not even close to that yet," said Tallahassee resident George Brown.
Triple A says Florida gas prices are the highest in the last four years, up more than 50 cents from last May.
