Two found dead in North Port home Wednesday

NORTH PORT, Fla. -- Police are investigating a shooting incident in a North Port home that left two people dead in what they are calling a domestic disturbance.

The incident happened around 9am Wednesday morning in the 2400 block of Florida Terrace.

According to the North Port Police Department, a 911 call came reporting a demestic disturbance at that address.  Arriving officers discovered a dead female and male.

Police have confirmed that shots were fired in the home, and believe the incident was a murder/suicide.  A full investigation is still under way.

"I heard gunshots. A couple sets of them," says neighbor Chris Ertle.  He says he didn't find it that strange, considering some of his neighbors shoot for fun.  "Didn't think really anything of it. Sometimes you hear that or firecrackers going off but nothing major."

Within minutes though he knew there was nothing fun about it. "A lot of police; a lot of action."

Investigators say the victim and suspect are known to them, and this appears to be a random act.

Their identities are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.  According to property records, the home is owned by Bush Bena and Heidi de Carlo.

Chris says the woman living there was nice. "In passing, talked to her a couple of times when she was walking her dogs. Nice lady."

If it was murder, it's the first murder in the city in more than two years. It just happens that last time was just a few blocks over on Duar Terrace. That's where investigators concluded Carol Wisdom took her 8-year-old son Michael's life and her own in a fire.

To the chagrin of neighbors that home still stands burnt as a reminder.
