ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Leaders of Florida's No. 1 industry are in Orlando to discuss ways to lure more tourists to the Sunshine State and celebrate what has been a record year in tourism spending in the past year.

Hundreds of tourism leaders gathered Wednesday evening for a banquet at a Universal Studios hotel where Gov. Rick Scott was set to address them.

The banquet was one of the featured events at the 46th Annual Florida Governor's Conference on Tourism.

Tourism leaders have good news to feast on.

Florida's visitors spent a record $72 billion in 2012, an almost 7 percent increase over the previous year.

Visit Florida, the state's quasi-public tourism marketing arm, estimates nearly 90 million people visited the state in 2012.
