BRADENTON BEACH, Fla. -- An overtly amorous couple shocked beach-goers Sunday on Bradenton Beach, resulting in the couple's first arrest after one person recorded their actions.

20-year-old Elissa Alvarez and 39-year-old Jose Caballero have been arrested and charged with Lewd or Lascivious Exhibition.

According to a report from the Bradenton Beach Police, officers were called to the 500 block of Gulf Drive South shortly after 8pm on Sunday. Witnesses said the two were laying on a sheet and began to fondle each other before having intercourse.

The witness was upset because her 4-year-old daughter witnessed the events.  Six other witnesses also filed complaints, with one even recording video of the interaction.

A grandmother visiting from Hillsborough County spotted the two, and started recording video. She says the couple would not stop. Eventually someone called police and the couple was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior.

The grandmother who captured it all on video told ABC 7 on the phone that she has never seen anything at the beach quite like this before.

Most beach-goers we spoke to concur. "It’s not normal...it’s not something that happens all the time. It's not common."

Others say if they had seen it -- they would have taken action.  "I would probably go up to them and say something. There’s kids out on the beach, people on vacation. They're giving us a bad name. It's just not right."

One beach-goer said, "Probably would move away from it. Maybe make some noises like cough--give them the indication that I’m right next to them. Kind of a private thing that should be behind closed doors."

Others say they don’t have a problem with the couple. "I am in no position to object to what that couple did on Bradenton Beach. I was actually conceived here on Siesta Key Beach. They were on the red lifeguard stand during a thunderstorm.”
