Posted

SARASOTA, Fla. -- The National Bar Association is holding a town hall meeting in Sarasota this weekend, discussing recent cases involving police officers' use of deadly force.

Among the cases to be discussed is that of Rodney Mitchell, who was shot and killed by Sarasota County sheriff's deputies on June 11, 2012. The National Bar Association has chosen Sarasota as its meeting place, in part, to call for a full and independent federal investigation into the Mitchell case.

Another case to be discussed is the Michael Brown shooting in Ferguson, Missouri.

The meeting will be this Saturday from 1 to 4 pm, at Bethlehem Bible Church on 18th Street.

ABC 7's Bobeth Yates will have a preview of the event tonight on ABC 7 News.
