NORTH PORT- The City of North Port has concluded its investigation into allegations of cheating within the Public Works department.

According to published reports, City Manager Jonathan Lewis acknowledges that an employee confirms department-wide cheating on mandatory FEMA exams.

Lewis directed that employee to civilian police inspector Steve Uebelacker, who began investigating the claim.  Uebelacker scheduled interviews with 24 workers, but stopped at the first 8, after they had all admitted to cheating on the test.

In turn, Lewis ordered the entire public works staff to be retrained on the FEMA requirements.  That training began Thursday morning at 7 o'clock.
