NORTH PORT - Just two years after spending millions of dollars to buy it, the City of North Port is selling back its share of Warm Mineral Springs.

Tuesday, in a 3-2 vote, city commissioners decided to sell off its portion of the property. The decision came in an emergency meeting to discuss the future of the springs.

A similar meeting last week led to a testy exchange between Mayor Linda Yates and Commissioner Tom Jones, who disagreed on an idea to build a hotel on the property.

The city jointly purchased the attraction with Sarasota County for $5.5 million in 2010.
