LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) - Three more community leaders have resigned from a commission established to help the troubled Lakeland Police Department.

The Lakeland Ledger (http://bit.ly/11dZCj4) reports that Wednesday's resignations mean Lakeland Mayor Gow Fields has lost some of the commission's most prominent leaders. The commission's co-chairs resigned earlier this week.

Anne Kerr, president of Florida Southern College, Kent Ingle, president of Southeastern University, and Elaine Thompson, CEO of Lakeland Regional Health Systems and Lakeland Regional Medical Center, have resigned from the Lakeland Police Advisory Commission.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement found numerous instances of sexual misconduct by LPD officers, which have resulted in several resignations and firings in recent weeks.

The FDLE is currently conducting a second criminal investigation relating to the sexual misconduct case within the department.
