CAPE CANAVERAL, FL (WTXL/AP) - Liftoff! The latest launch of a Space-X rocket was mostly a success. NASA tracked the trip of the Falcon spacecraft this weekend as it carried a "Dragon" supply capsule to the International Space Station.
But an attempt to make a "soft landing" of the rocket's first stage booster failed. Normally, that giant tube crashes into the ocean after launch and is abandoned. Instead of losing the booster, this time Space-X hoped to re-use it, changing the economic landscape for space travel. But it came down too hard in the Atlantic Ocean and was destroyed.
