WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — The Palm Beach County School District reports that officials have evacuated a middle school after a possible chemical incident.

Emergency management officials say about 60 people at Jeaga Middle School were complaining Friday of irritation to their eyes and throats, and one faculty member was transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.

After students and teachers were moved to a playground area outside the school, officials say their symptoms seemed to go away.

The Palm Beach Post reports that hazmat crews were responding to test the area.

Jeaga Middle School has an enrollment of about 1,200 students.
