Miami mayoral candidate says she's endorsed by Jesus

MIAMI, Fla. (CNN/WPLG) -- Voters in north Miami head to the polls Tuesday to elect a new mayor. One candidate claims she has received a very strong endorsement from a higher power.

"I've been endorsed by God," said Anna Pierre, a candidate for Miami Mayor. "It's a spiritual endorsement. And Why? Because everything I do I always get God involved."

Pierre, a registered nurse and 90's Creole-language pop star says she prayed and received three signs that Jesus was her endorser.

"Well, I'm going to keep them private," Pierre said referring to what the three signs were.

The divine backing doesn't faze Pierre's opponent.

The north Miami mayor's race has been full of shenanigans. Last week candidate Jean Marcellus was punched in the face inside his own campaign headquarters by an acquaintance. Candidate Kevin Burns says he's filed five police reports for stolen signs, and Pierre says last month she was the target of voodoo spells.

"What I say to those people who don't believe in Jesus? I'm going to tell them that whether or not you believe in Jesus or not, once I am elected mayor I'm gonna be the mayor for everybody," Pierre said.
