Miami Hospital to be Renamed After Golfer Jack Nicklaus

MIAMI (AP) — Miami Children's Hospital is being renamed after golf icon Jack Nicklaus and his wife.

The couple's foundation is giving $60 million to the hospital and its outpatient centers, which will be renamed the Nicklaus Children's Hospital in March.

Nicklaus and his wife Barbara said in a statement "there is no higher calling than to help children in need of medical care, hope and healing."

Their donation will support a planned 212,000-square-foot advanced pediatric care pavilion with three new family-centered intensive care units. Funds will also support emergency and trauma preparedness, and enhance programs for heart, brain and cancer patients.

Miami Children's has been collaborating with the Nicklaus Health Care Foundation since 2010.
