PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a Florida Panhandle man fatally shot his 10-year-old son and then killed himself.
The Bay County Sheriff's Office reports that deputies found Phillip Stephens dead of a gunshot wound Tuesday night at a Panama City Beach home. His son, Joshua, was initially still alive but died a short time later at a nearby hospital.
The Panama City News Herald reports that a teenage family member was also at home at the time of shooting but did not witness it. Family members told investigators that Stephens had a history of threatening suicide.
It wasn't immediately clear why he killed himself and his son Tuesday.
