BARTOW, Fla. (AP) - A central Florida man has been sentenced to life in prison for strangling his daughter's girlfriend and hiding her body in an empty house.
A Polk County judge sentenced 43-year-old Jerry Lee Seger on Tuesday. A jury found him guilty last month of second-degree murder.
Prosecutors say Seger killed 24-year-old Courtney Elizabeth Bright in April 2010 because he was angry about Bright's influence on his daughter. The Ledger reports that Seger did not approve of their relationship and lifestyle, which included using drugs, stealing and not having a stable place to live.
Bright was found dead in the closet of an empty Lakeland home. She was nude and had been strangled with a white shirt.
