NAPLES, Fla. (AP) — A southwest Florida man has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally stabbing another man during a fight.
A Collier County judge sentenced 40-year-old John Orr on Friday. He was convicted last year of second-degree murder. The Naples Daily News (http://goo.gl/IVToBc ) reports that he previously rejected a plea deal that would have given him 23 years in prison.
Prosecutors say Orr stabbed 63-year-old Jon Joseph more than 70s times on a residential street in 2011.
Defense attorneys said Orr was acting in self-defense after Joseph attacked him.
