TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Police have charged a man with second degree murder following a deadly shooting outside a Tampa area bar.

Tampa Police said Christian Maffu and his friends were arguing Saturday when another group overheard them and began taunting them. That's when police said John Chatman Jr. went to his car and came back with a firearm.  He allegedly pistol whipped one of the victims.  Police said Chatman pointed his gun at another victim and threatened to kill him.  Maffu tried to defend his friend and punched Chatman. The suspect knocked Maffu to the ground and shot him. He died at the hospital.

Authorities said they identified Chatman through his social media accounts and witness statements. He was arrested at home Sunday. Chatman was also charged with aggravated battery and aggravated assault.
