MacDill medical ops member killed in car crash

 MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. (AP) - Officials at MacDill Air Force base say a member of their medical operations squadron has died in a traffic accident.

 

      Staff Sgt. Cheryl Westbrook's car collided with another car on I-75 Saturday near Riverview. She lost control of the vehicle, hit a traffic sign and flipped over. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Florida Highway Patrol officials identified her Monday.

 

      According to a statement from the base, Westbrook was an orthopedic surgical technician with the 6th Medical Operations Squadron. She joined the Air Force in 1995 and arrived at MacDill in 2011. She also served in Germany, Japan, Nebraska, and South Korea.
