KEY WEST, Fla. - It started in 1996 as a crazy idea to ring in the new year, and last night for the16th time, Key West, Florida welcomed the new year with its annual "shoe drop."
Just like the ball in New York's Times Square, the shoe is lowered with each final minute of the year until the clock strikes midnight.
