Jack McLean to Host Celebration of African Culture

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- In honor of Black History Month, the Jack McLean Community Center will host "Our Culture, Our History" on Wednesday, Feb. 19, from 6-9 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

Attendees will enjoy live performances from poets, hip hop artists, African drummers, rhythm and blues musicians, break dancers and more. Educators will discuss the history and origin of different aspects of African and African American culture. Groups from Florida A&M University and Florida State University - including Progressive Black Males and Dream Defenders - will be in attendance to provide information and demonstrations. Additionally, a variety of vendors will be at the event offering natural products.

The Jack McLean Community Center, located at 700 Paul Russell Road, is operated and maintained by the City's Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs Department.
