SARASOTA, Fla. -- After a year of rehabilitation, Mote Marine releases a sea turtle back into the wild.

In September of 2013, rescue crews saved a Green Sea Turtle from the waters off the Suncoast.  The reptile had been hit by a boat and suffered severe injuries.  Mote caregivers named the turtle "CJ".

Now a year to the week since the turtle was saved, it will be put back into the gulf.  The big send off took place Monday near Moore's Stone Crab Restaurant on Broadway Street.  The staff that helped nurse the turtle back to health was on hand to send CJ home.
