ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - The 10 remaining defendants charged in the hazing death of former FAMU drum major Robert Champion are set to have a status hearing on their cases.

The hearing, set for Friday afternoon, could determine when trials might commence in the case. Prosecutors added manslaughter and felony hazing charges to a new defendant last month.

Champion, who's from Decatur, Ga., collapsed and died in November 2011 after walking down a gauntlet of other band members who beat him with fists and instruments on a bus parked outside an Orlando hotel following a football game.

Five previous defendants have taken plea deals that ended in probation and community service sentences for what the state says were minimal roles. Prosecutors are expected to seek jail time for those still charged.
