Florida has the longest voter wait times, according to a new study.
The Government Accountability Office shows that Lee County voters had to wait in line the longest during the 2012 election.
Some polling locations had to remain open more than 3 hours after the polls closed. The average wait time was about 2 hours for voters there.
The data shows Manatee County voters waited an average 45 minutes to vote in that presidential election, and Sarasota County voters waited about 35 minutes.
Senator Bill Nelson is backing federal legislation designed to keep voter wait times less than 30 minutes.
