MONROE CO., FL (RNN) - A Florida man has been arrested after police said he attacked a woman's dog over an argument.

Sean Booth Chidester, 35, was arrested Tuesday evening and is being held on an animal cruelty charge.

A woman told Monroe County deputies she got into an altercation with Chidester. She said he picked up her dog, Penny, raised it over his head  "with arms fully extended and slammed the dog to the ground from the top of the stairs."

The woman said the dog is estimated to have fallen 10 feet.

The dog had multiple fractures to its pelvis, according to a veterinarian. It may be unable to urinate and require a catheter.

Chidester, a convicted felon, was previously charged with aggravated assault for attacking a pregnant woman. He is being held on $50,000 bail.
