DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a 51-year-old man is accused of shooting his daughter's boyfriend eight times with a high-powered pellet gun.
Douglas Barbee was arrested Tuesday and remains in the Volusia County Jail on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and marijuana possession.
Volusia County Sheriff's spokesman Andrew Gant says 37-year-old Lawrence Scandell was shot when he argued with Barbee's 23-year-old daughter. Scandell was shot in the upper chest and leg. He was taken to a hospital as a precautionary measure because of where the pellets struck him.
Scandell told deputies he'd been arguing with girlfriend Kyle Fank in Barbee's front yard.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://bit.ly/1UGzBRd ) reports court records show Barbee unsuccessfully asked the court for an injunction against Scandell in 2014.
It's unclear whether Barbee has a lawyer.
