TAMPA, Fla. (WTSP/CNN) -- Police in Tampa are looking for whoever left a loaded gun inside a movie theater bathroom.
Police say a nine-year-old found a loaded Glock 26 9-millimeter handgun sitting on top of the toilet paper dispenser inside a bathroom Sunday at the Muvico movie theater.
"My son opened the door and immediately said, 'Dad, there's a gun in the bathroom," Wesley Noland said.
The boy's father, Wesley Noland, who has a concealed weapons permit and is a former Marine says he immediately secured the handgun and called police.
"That gun could have been picked up by a child or it could have been picked up by a convicted felon or a rowdy group of teenagers or something like that, but, in any case, it could have been used in a crime or accidentally discharged and it could have killed somebody in the theater, worst of all a kid," Wesley Noland said.
Police now have the gun and are searching for its owner. But, even if the person who left it in the bathroom had a permit, and leaving it was simply a mistake, the owner could face charges.
"I think the gentleman should be punished," Noland said. "He should have to answer for what he did. He put a lot of people's live in jeopardy yesterday."
