TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Governor Rick Scott is ordering all flags in the state of Florida to be flown at half-staff to honor slain journalist Steven Sotloff.
Sotloff, a former University of Central Florida student from Pinecrest, was killed by Islamic State militants earlier this week. He is the second American journalist murdered by ISIS.
The 31-year-old Sotloff was a freelance journalist for "Time", "Foreign Policy", "Christian Science Monitor", and others.
"Ann [the governor's wife] and I join all Floridians, and Americans, in grieving with the Sotloff family today. Those who murdered Steven are evil, and evil must be confronted and destroyed," said Gov. Rick Scott earlier this week.
